Hi, my name is Soumyaa Thakur. I’m born and raised in Mumbai, India. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Biomedical Science through an Integrated Bachelor’s – Masters course from NMIMS University. I have done my previous internships at Cipla Ltd. in the Microbiology Department, and at Sciformix, A Covance Company in the Clinical Operations department. I have also completed an undergraduate project in the field of Stem Cell Research and published a paper titled “Clocking the Circadian Genes in Human Embryonic Stem Cells”, in an International Journal “Stem Cell Investigation” for the same project. Simultaneously, I am also a writing team member at Eureka, A Science Magazine, which is a college newsletter. I have always had an interest in the field of Stem Cell Research and am forever curious to know about how infections function in the human body. My career goal is to perform ground-breaking research in the field of Stem Cells or Molecular Biology. Apart from my zeal for scientific research, I am also passionate about reading and cooking. As a part of the Immune System Group at The Centre for Research on Addiction and Brain Health (CRABH), I am currently researching over the effects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on the human body, and the potential use of Stem Cells and AYUSH remedies as a treatment for the COVID-19 infection.
